Development of the Russian Mi-34 (NATO Designation: 'Hermit') light multipurpose/training helicopter began in 1980; production began in 1993.  Composed of the conventional pod and boom configuration, the light aircraft is capable of aerobatics.

Maximum internal and external payloads are 240 kg and 300 kg, respectively.  The cabin passenger capacity is 4, including the crew.
