Equipped with an automatic deployable rotor and a turbofan powerplant; the SAVER is designed to be stored in aircraft for the crewman to escape in emergency. Until ejected, the Stowable Aircrew Vehicle Escape Rotoseat (SAVER) serves as the pilot seat, compact and its telescoping rotor closed. Once deployed, a drogue chute is released to slow the gyroplane before the rotor opens and the engine starts.
The main rotor is not provided power by the engine, providing lift during the descent or by the force of passing air. The powerplant is a turbofan, provided thrust.
