The Bell V-247 Vigilant is a single engine, unmanned tiltrotor vehicle first unveiled in 2016 in answer to the US Marine Corps Marine Aviation Plan released in the same year. The Vigilant has also been billed to the US Navy as a new multi-mission platform capable of taking on ASW, ASuW, SAR, FIAC, and surveillance & recon roles. Still in development, some aspects of the final configuration are unclear: for example, some images depict vertical twin tails similar to the Bell Boeing V22, while others show a V-tail like that of the Bell V-280 Valor. Another curious feature is the placement of the rotor nacelles inboard a small distance from the wingtips. Subsequently the wingtips rotate along with the nacelles during transition, putting the Vigilant in a unique category between tiltrotor and tiltwing vehicle.
