PAUL H. STANLEY, well known in the aviation industry for his many contributions to the engineering advancement of the Autogiro and helicopter, Paul was working on advanced designs of transport rotorcraft at the time of his final illness. He contributed many inventions having over a dozen patents in his name and as many new applications for patents pending- most of which pertain to rotary wing aircraft.
In his almost 40 years of association and work with rotary wing aircraft, he served as assistant engineer on the design and flight tests of the PCA-1, the first Autogiro built in America, and on the PCA-2 Autogiro for the Pitcairn Aircraft Co. He was successfully associated with Autogiro Co. of America, the Pitcairn Autogiro Co., the Pitcairn-Larsen Autogiro Co. and in 1941 became chief engineer of the Autogiro Co. of America.Paul H. Stanley, chief engineer of the Autogiro Co. of America, died in Philadelphia, Pa. on January 13, 1968.
