This is a Significant Operational milestone.
Description:
The Igor I. Sikorsky Human Powered Helicopter (HPH) Competition was launched in 1980 and required competitors to achieve specific requirements to achieve the AHS prize,
- A one minute hovering time
- A momentary achievement of 3 meters altitude,
- The vehicle to be controlled within a constrained box
- All the above had to be achieved in the same flight
A video of the team and the aircraft is provided via this link. The pilot for the prize winning flight was Todd Reichert.
The prize was formally awarded 11 July 2013.
